The Fondazione Umberto Veronesi has set out to promote scientific progress in its most innovative and state-of-the-art aspects, devoting a particular interest to the issues of ethics. The quintessential scope of this foundation is to diffuse in today’s society the awareness of the intrinsic values to the world of science, which is considered as the most advanced expression of the human intellect’s potentialities. The Foundation functions thanks to a tightknit group of voluntaries boasting various professional specializations and adhering to the common aim of promoting scientific progress, while rewarding ingeniousness and innovation.

The CMB Foundation was born as an association on the 22nd of June 2001. It aims at aiding and supporting associations, foundations and other charities as well as participating in the organization of cultural, scientific or artistic events, in order to promote the image of the Principality of Monaco.

Since its creation, the Foundation has worked:

• on one hand, in organizing conferences in the Principality, publishing various works and assisting the Institut d'Etudes Politiques Méditerranéennes to organize a conference that gathered in the Principality during the month of March 2002, 40 prominent Mediterranean political officials;
• on the other hand, in launching an important plan of active patronage to favor the holding of events in the Principality, namely through the organization of cultural and economic conferences and the funding of interesting artistic and sports projects. Among the former, the support of the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, as official and exclusive partner, which has lead to a series of tours in some of the most important Italian theaters. Among the latter, the support of the IAAF (International Association Athletics Federations) the Pentathlon and the Monte Carlo Golf Club.
