The Principality of Monaco is a sovereign and independent State. For seven centuries the Grimaldi family has presided over the Principality of Monaco. This rare dynastic longevity is a proof of national unity between the Princes and the Monegasque people. The Principality is a hereditary constitutional monarchy and a state of law that defends freedoms and fundamental rights. A UN member since 1993, Monaco has integrated the euro zone and has become since the 5th of October 2004 a member of the Council of Europe.
In recent years, the Monegasque state has asserted itself on the international scene, not only for its tourism asset that makes it one of the most coveted destinations in the world, but also for the artistic and cultural ferment that generated numerous initiatives embracing all fields of human knowledge. Thanks to Overview, the Principality has extended its horizons further and has become an important point of reference in the scientific field.
Enjoying a favorable geographic position between Italy and France, and
being close to important air and sea links, the Principality of Monaco
is becoming a meeting hub for the most brilliant minds of our times:
as a matter of fact, some of the most important world-class scientific
personalities, among them 4 Nobel prize winners, will meet in Monte
Carlo for the first time on the occasion of the Overview event.
